Legal Question in Employment Law in California
large corporation and their breech of contract
I work for a national drug store chain. I was offered a position, a promotion, and was told I would work at it for a few months before it became ''official''. Several times during this unofficial period, I asked for my raise--I was always told that it would be given (next check). Five months later (and no raise) I was told that I would not be able to have this promotion. My employeer sited that the agreement we had made would ''not work''. I was to be given a raise, a company car, and the agreement was I would supervise stores in close proximity to my home. Now I was being told that my closest store was several counties away, and that I would have a new supervisor who would not work with someone who lived so far. Do I have grounds to sue for breech of contract? I feel very wronged.

Though it may be difficult to prove, oral contracts are enforceable. You also may have grounds for fraud if you can prove that the company never intended to keep the promises it made to you
