Re: Legal days and hours worked

Every employer must allow an employee to take at least one day off for rest within seven days. There are exceptions, such as emergencies and jobs involved with the protection of life and property, union contracts, etc.

In California, a non-exempt employee must be paid overtime premiums after working 8 hours within a day, or 40 hours within a week. If you are not sure whether you are a non-exempt employee, consult with a labor law attorney or call the California Labor Commission.
