Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Legal recourse for not being paid for hours worked

I work for California State Automobile Assn. Continuously since I have been employed with the company, employees are not being paid for hours worked, sometimes not for months. Example: I worked 8.5 hours on Presidents Day, Monday February 15, 1999, today is April 05, 1999 and I have yet to see this money on my paycheck despite repeated requests for the amount due. This is a company wide problem. Their excuse is that payroll is done by humans and therefore prone to error. However they are quick to deduct any days off for illness in which you have no sick time left to utilize. We are paid on a bi-weekly basis.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Legal recourse

If you are shorted on wages file a complaint with the State Labor Commissioner. They are very good about getting you your money.
