Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Is it legal to remove an employee from a tipped position to a cleaning position (untipped) if they don't perform to standards outlined by the employer for the remainder of their shift. This would be taking place in a restaurant in California.

It sure is. They could also just send you home, or fire you. As long as you are paid minimum wage, and they are not engaging in racial or other illegal discrimination, they can do whatever they want to penalize you for not meeting performance standards.
