Is it legal for a school administrator to defame a group of teachers to a prospective school administrator in order to prevent their new employment?

Without knowing the circumstances, I can only say in general terms, that it is illegal for an employer to make false statements about ex-employees for the purpose of denying them employment, otherwise known as blackballing (see Cal. Labor Code Section 1050).
