Legal Question in Employment Law in California

They lied and broke an agreement

I retired from a aerospace company on November !st

1999 prior to my retirement I was asked to take a

volntary layoff package whick would have been a

considerable amount of extra money for my wife and

I. We made plans and I signed an agreement in the

middle of September to be laid off on November 1ST

1999 two weeks prior to November 1ST 1999. I was

told that I would not be receving the layoff

package. There was anthor employee same department

who signed up for volntary layoff package at the

same time as I did and was granted the layoff

package. I feel that I was lied too and that the

companys human resorces department was getting

even with me for having to remove me from a layoff

notice

Re: They lied and broke an agreement

Your question is a little confusing in that you claim the company lied to you about an early retirement package, but you retired anyway. If you were forced to retire, and the company reneged on its agreement with you to provide you with early retirement benefits, you may have a benefit claim. I would suggest you seek the advice of an attorney familiar with ERISA, and early retirement window benefit rights immediately.
