Legal Question in Employment Law in California
I live in Palmdale, CA and work in Los Angeles CA. Everyday, I commute to my office. We have now opened a facility in Lancaster, CA which I must travel to quite regularly. I claimed mileage from my office to the facility when I have had to go from the facility. When I have gone straight from home, I have not claimed any mileage for reimbursement. Additionally, I have no claimed mileage reimbursement to return to my home after ending my shift at our Lancaster facility.
My employer seems to think that she is right in only reimbursing me the difference in the distance it takes from my home to the Lancaster site. She has stated "since you live out there, I'm not paying for you to go home."
While attempting to explain that I am traveling from one facility to another, my employer is adamant that she has won a similar mileage case. I adamantly disagree and believe that I am entitled to reimbursement.

I agree with you. Once you arrive at your office you are on company time and any necessarily incurred expenses laid out by you to enable you to do your job, must be reimbursed by the employer.
