Legal Question in Employment Law in California

I'm a live-in caregiver in CA and I've been caring for a friend for the past 30 months. We had an agreement That he would pay me when he got his inheritance. I worked for 8 months without being paid before he finally received his money. He waited another 2 months before paying me and then he only paid me $6,300.00. Our agreement was $100.00 a day. He only outside be for 63 days. I was waiting to take him to court because I know he did throw me out of the house when I started to sue him. Unfortunately, he just passed away 2 weeks ago. His brother now gets everything including the house in living in. I went to school with his brother and he lives out of State. I can stay here until he sells the house, which is very nice of him. Is he legally responsible for paying me. The man I was taking care of has plenty of money in his bank account to pay me. If so how do I do this? Thank you.

The brother does not personally owe you, however your friend's estate owes you the money. If the brother has not already opened a probate case, you need to open one and submit a claim as a creditor of the estate.
