Legal Question in Employment Law in California

mandatory meetings at 6am-

i work for a huge home improvement customer service center that requires ee's to attend a meeting once a month at 6am. ee's are paid for the time, however, when i was hired, they asked me for my avail. time and 6am was not part of that time. if you do not show up to the meeting, they will give you a 5 pt penalty, it only takes 10 pts to get fired. how is this legal if i was never told about the meeting before i was hired and they happen at a time when i am not available? pls help. thanks.

Re: mandatory meetings at 6am-

Unless you have a contract specifying days and hours of work, the employer is in control of the schedule. If there is no legally protected reason for your failure to comply with the employer's schedule, you can be disciplined.
