Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Meal Period Claim/Termination

Today I was terminated from my employer.

A few weeks ago I had asked my supervisor regarding meal period/rest period violations. He stated that I did not know what I was taking about and told me to drop it. I told him that I wanted to know to make sure that we were doing business safely. He stated that we were fine. I then mentioned it to HR. I went over his head, and recieved an email stating the ''chain of command'' and that if I went over anyones head again I would be ''disciplined''.

A few days ago they cut all employees hours 1.15 hours. I wanted to know if this was by the books. He stated yes.

My grandfather had fallen ill and I asked for a few days off. They stated No. We made a compromise to work 1/2 days. Two days later (today) I was let go.

I feel that me asking HR related questions caused my termination.

I was scheduled for a 90 review in May, they postponed till June 11.

They stated that I was not performing the job functions well.

I see this as retaliation. What should I do? Do I have any sort of claim?
