Is methadone covered by ADA?

I have been in a methadone maintenance program for 7 years. The company I work for has been sold so I have been applying for another position. I was offered a job contingent on passing a drug test and physical. Is the doctor required to report that I have tested positive for methadone?

Can I request that it remain confidential? I know that if the doctor tells my prospective employer that I was a drug addict at one time that they will withdraw the job offer. Please help me. The test is in a few days.

The doctor will report on whatever the test is designed to screen for. Drug adiction is not covered by the ADA.
