Legal Question in Employment Law in California
Negative sick time
Hello,
I recently quit my job after 5yrs of employment. I was a Call Center Supervisor and was salaried. Even though I was exempt in all aspects(no overtime pay, etc.), i was still required to fill out an automated form stating my clock-in/out times, sick time/days, etc.
When i quit, they calculated me with negative sick time. The employer deducted the negative sick time from my last paycheck. I disputed the issue with HR and my manager but was forced to sign for the earnings in order for me to actually receive my check that day. I was informed that this is illegal from an HR manager/friend.
Is this company allowed to do this??
