Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Non-commute travel time

If I am assigned to an office at 1234 Main St, but am occasionally sent to 5679 Pine Rd, an office farther from my home than 1234 Main St, is the time spent for the additional travel from Main St to the Pine Rd subject to compensation?

I would think that it is. Using this example as an exaggeration, suppose I am assigned to an office in Los Angeles, and my work hours are 8am to 5pm. I am temporarily directed to be report for work at 8am and expect to work until 5pm, in the Las Vegas office. It does not seem logical that the employee would be responsible for the 5 hours driving time to get to Las Vegas and then 5 more hours return.

travel time should be paid for, this is complex and you should get an attorney. If you are located in Orange, San Diego or Imperial Counties, you can email me your contact info, so we can discuss your particular situation. There is no charge for consultation
