Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Non-Compete Clause for an employee in California

I worked for a contractor in California who is in tern contracted by another contractor to do work for a client. There was some sort of non compete clause that I signed that I believe was mainly between my boss and the other contractor that states they cannot bypass them to contract directly to the client, or steal employees and vise versa. A totaly separate company has now come into the picture to bid for the contract. I was recently fired for turning in a resume to the new company (who doesnt have the contract yet) and I feel as though my ex employer is going to somehow try to block me from working for any of the companies that are contracted by the client.

Can they do this?

Such a clause may be difficult to enforce as it is contrary to public policy. Only the most artfully drafted clauses survive. Contact me directly.
