Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Non-disclosure

I am currently interviewing for a industry competitor of my current employer. During the interview process, I unwittingly mentioned a current bid process to the interviewer. Can this be held against me?

Re: Non-disclosure

Your question is too vague to give a specific answer. If you are saying that you inadvertently revealed to a competitor of your current employer a trade secret of the employer, you may be held liable for damages. You have a duty of loyalty to your employer not to reveal information to competitors that could harm your employer. While you have the right to work for competitors, you cannot share trade secrets with them. Be careful what you say.
