Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Overtime

This is the second company I have worked for that is NOT paying overtime, yet the demands are increasing, hours that is. I am guaranteed a base wage for a fourty hr week, and I am expected to work a lot more than that. The threat of immediate discharge looms over everyone if there is ANY complaining about these conditions. I am NOT a manager or supervisor. How do I get my 40 hr work week back without losing my job? The overtime used to amount to just a few hours a week, but it is steadily increasing. I don't mind overtime if I am compensated for it. Thank you.
