Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Overtime

Can an employer impose mandatory overtime on an employee? In other words, the employee does not have a choice. That employee must work the overtime or this

refusal goes into their employment record as a black

mark against them.Is there a law against this? What can the employee do to protect themselves against this

tactic?

Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you shortly.
