Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Overtime for hotel clerks

I work in a hotel and I have to stay late everyday because my relief is always 20-30 min. late. For this reason I usually end up working 82-89 hours a week and don't get paid over time for this extra work even though i could get terminated if I left at the end of my shift. The manager claims that the overtime I put in is not approved therefor I don't get paid for it, but he refses to confront my relief on the matter of her lateness, and says it is my job to talk to her about it. Is it Leagal for him to refuse to pay me overtime when he makes no attempt to solve the problem?

Re: Overtime for hotel clerks

Based on your statement of what is going on, you have a claim for unpaid overtime. You definitely should contact the labor commissioner or consult with a lawyer in your area about your situation.
