Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Overtime for part-time employees?

I remember something on the news recently (within the past year or so) regarding part-time employees now being eligible for receive overtime pay in CA. I think that the condtions involved working more than 8 hours in a day, even if you don't work 40 hours in a week. But it may have been working in excess of an employee's regular, scheduled hours. I need to find the specifc law that addresses this issue.

Thanks!

Re: Overtime for part-time employees?

If you work over eight hours in a workday or over 40 hours in a workweek you are entitled to overtime compensation, unless the nature of your duties make you exempt.
