Legal Question in Employment Law in California

We have a part time payroll helper. She just gave two months notice but we would like to let her go now. We are not happy with her work to begin with and were actually relieved when she gave notice. Do we have to keep her the full two months or can we let her go now. Payroll is a sensitive position.

This is in California

Yes, you can terminate an employee earlier. There is no law against terminating an at-will employee immediately as soon as they give notice of resignation, however long that notice might be, assuming that the termination won't otherwise appear as illegal (i.e. discriminatory or retaliatory).
