pay cut
I was hired as National Sales Manager for a manufacturing Co. to increase sales and market visibility. I joined the co. Nov. 97. (with a salary of $60,000) I took company from 2 sales people on the phone to a National Sales Organization of 11 rep grouos w/over 80 road reps. I was given a promotion to Director of Sales in Nov. 98, (with a pay increase to $70,000 The beginning of April we had a re-structuring and I was told as of immediately I would now be getting a salary of $56,000. There was no indication that I was not doing my job, not once was I reprimanded. The only thing that happened was that my Boss, the VP of Sales and Marketing (who had a 5 year contract) was fired after 1 year and someone whom I hired 1 and 1/2 months earlier is now the new VP. Needless to say I am looking for a new job. My question is; are they able to legally cut my pay to less than what I was paid when hired?

Unless you have a contract that says otherwise, your wages can be cut at any time as long as it is not retroactive and is at least minimum wage.
