Legal Question in Employment Law in California
Pay for mandatory meeting on a work day
I work in a group home facility, and my boss is requiring me to come into work to discuss sick leave related to pregnancy. My question is this: do they have to pay me for coming in, and if so, for how many hours? Also, I work at night, so requiring me to come in during the day is my personal time. However, i do have to work the same night the meeting is held. Do i still get paid for the meeting?

Re: Pay for mandatory meeting on a work day
If the employer calls you into work for a meeting, it is working time and you must be paid. If you log more than 8 hours during the day (because you work later the same day), you are entitled to overtime for all hour over 8 in that work day.

Must be paid under facts provided. If ultimately results in workday beyond 8hours, must pay overtime.
