Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Pay, reviews and transfers

I was transfered in my job two months before my yearly review with company. I have been with the company now over two years. The transfer was not in a higher pay brackett for the company, but I lost no money. However I was not given my yearly and am afraid to ask for fear that if I do they might cut pay. Was I entitled to year review?

Re: Pay, reviews and transfers

There is no law that requires employers to conduct performance reviews. It is simply a matter of company policy. In some cases, employers may be contractually required to conduct regular reviews, as may be found in collective bargaining agreements. But if there is no contract, it is up the the employer's discretion.
