Legal Question in Employment Law in California
Paycheck incorrect, but employer refuses to cut a separate check
Quick question. My employer screwed up my paycheck, making me lose almost $150 this paycheck. I was told that I would be paid retroactively. I spoke with our accountant about cutting a separate check for the difference instead of putting it on my next paycheck. She told me that I would have to clear it with the Assistant Gm who would, in turn, have to clear it with the GM. I was denied my request because the GM felt that the difference was not that large. I am worried now that if that difference goes on my next paycheck that my tax with-holdings will skyrocket. What legal rights am I entitled to, or what can I do to force them to cut a separate check so that I don't, for lack of a better word, get screwed on my next paycheck in taxes.
Sincerely,
Paycheck Dude

I'll leave the direct answer to others, but as a practical matter, it sounds as if too much time has already been spent on this matter. I tend to agree with the GM, sorry.
