Legal Question in Employment Law in California

A person is let go due to the elimination of position then finds out the employer hires somebody to do basically the same job for a lower salary... is that legal?

Hello.

I of course don't know the specific details of your employment and lay off, but this is a common scenario where the employer might try to hide the real and possibly illegal reason for firing as a lay-off. Do you have reasons to believe that the reason you were fired and replace was because of your age? Disability? Ethnic origin? Gender? Complaining about workplace violations of any kind?
