Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Pregnancy Leave

I just had a baby and took pregnancy leave and it was now time for me to come back. I called my mananger to set up my return and she let me know that they would not be taking me back. She said the reason was because they are paying the person that was covering for me 10 dollars less an hour than they were paying me. I was only working part time (3days a week) and so they said they are noy obligated to hold my job that the law that would protect my job only applies to full time employees, is this correct?

Re: Pregnancy Leave

Hello. This is likely a legitimate medical condition / disability discrimination case based on the information you provided. As you know, employers are no allowed to discriminate against employees based on disability or medical condition. Pregnancy leave is specifically protected by the statute.
