Legal Question in Employment Law in California
I was promoted within the last year. I was told that I was in line for this promotion for months prior to it actually happen. During the "waiting" period I was informally told by my direct supervisor that there were concerns that my age and tenure with the organization were questioned by an executive. My only peer in this position was hired directly into that position and is a woman over 40, I am a man under 30. After the promotion I was told that my title would be "Western Region Safety Manager", not "AVP, Western Region Safety Manager", the reason explained to me was that title was being eliminated. My peer continues to have the AVP title, and others are being promoted in other departments with either an AVP or VP title. Also subordinates are now being hired with 3 weeks vacations as opposed to my 2 week vacation. When mentioned to my direct and executive supervisors, they jointly told me that it could not be changed until I have been with the company for five years and I should have negotiated better. Any available solutions at my disposal?.

Why not take a course in how to improve your negotiating skills? Look in the back of the airline magazine, or Google for it.
