Legal Question in Employment Law in California
Proved innocent still fired
A friend of mine was accused of stealing 1200 dollars from her job, the police were called and reviewed video tape, receipts, and basically proved innocent. The following day she called in to see about her schedule, they said that she was done here. She has not received her final check as of yet. So what is her next move? Thank you for your time.

I hate to sound callous but . . . she should file for unemployment, complain to the Labor Board about unpaid wages, and look for new work. She probably wouldn't want to work for those folks, anyway.

In addition to Mr. Cohen's advise, she should keep her ears open to any possible defamatory statements made about her to persons who have no business to know she was accused of stealing, including prospective employers.
