Legal Question in Employment Law in California

punched on the job

at my most recent employer I was punched by a subordinate. I called the police as I was the only supervisor on shift and pressed charges on the employee. The next day after I had documented everything and cammeras were reviewed I was terminated for ''not keeping the situation in house'' Is there anything I can do? I requested an apeal but HR said that wont happen for up to six months.
