Legal Question in Employment Law in California
My question is. Do i need some type of certification if I was a maintance man. My obligations or job duties were, pacth work (drywall) changing the toilet, fixing broken windows,fixing the coolers (changing the moter,changing the water pump,) fixing leaks in the kicthen sinks also the bathroom. cleaning out apt. after people moved out. I also clean the parking lot. I am going to court next month and a friend told me that i was going to lose becaue i didn't have a certification. do I need a general contractors liences to do that work.

If you were not an employee, and did more than $500 worth of work, you needed a contractor's license for much of the work you did. Cleaning and maintenance - basic repairs, no, but work on the physical structure yes.
