Legal Question in Employment Law in California
Questionable Termination
My sister and I worked at the same place. My sister walked out on the job
for her own reasons. I was fired 2 days later. The new manager acused me of stealing property, which is not true and can be proven. The new manager did not like my sister or I before she became the new manager and we believe I was terminated simply because she wanted both of us gone. I have never stole from this company and have been employed here for 13 months. I can prove that I did not steal. Do I have recourse?

Re: Questionable Termination
You may have a claim for defamation, particularly if you can establish that the manager made a false accusation about you to people who did not have any need to know the reason for your termination.
