Legal Question in Employment Law in California
Quit the Job, no check mailed.
I worked part-time for a certain company in Oakland California for a week. After being worked for 6 hours at a time with no break and very unprofessional conduct, including an employee saying ''you f*cked up, have a nice weekend'', I decided the job was not for me.
I decided this on a Friday and called in early Monday informing them that I found a better job and would not be working for them anymore.
It's now been over a week and I haven't recieved a check. A friend of mine said that they have to mail my check within 3 days after quitting.
I just wanted to know if this is true, and also if there's a place where I can report the unbelievable misconduct in what is suppose to be a well respected company.

California employers have 72 hours to pay an employee who quits. If the employee gives 72 hours advanced notice, the employer must pay immediately on the day of quitting. You may report the problems you experienced to your nearest office of the state labor commissioner. Good luck.

Yes, there is such a law. If you've not been paid after three days you should immediately contact the nearest office of the California state labor commissioner. File a wage claim with them and they will get your money for you without cost you.
