Legal Question in Employment Law in California

I quit without notice by employer

Can anyone tell me if there is recourse for damages due to hardship they caused me?

The company letter stated they noticed I cleared out all my stuff from my desk, and then I refused to talk to my supervisor directly when I called in sick for 3 days before going on 3 weeks vacation during xmas/new year. (In other words they see me burning off sick time and vacation time and waiting till the end of the year so I can collect profit sharing before going and want to send a message to everyone they wont let you get away with it).

My response letter to my company was:

I called in everyday of my injury to both my supervisor's voice mail, and the cell group secretary, and provided a doctors note at the end of the 3 days, to Hr though the receptionist, there is no way that I can be construed as quitting without notice effective before I called in sick. Also I provided a letter of intent to Quit delivered to HR though the receptionist, after I went on vacation, with a last day of 1/11/02, to provide at least 2 weeks notice as the company requests, there is no way that I can be construed as quitting without notice effective before I called in sick.

Please correct this matter as soon as possible.
