Legal Question in Employment Law in California

I recently had an interview with EDD and I was asked by the interviewer about an issue that led to my termination. I was told by my employer that none of this information would be released because they were unable to legally release this information. If my claim for UI is denied, do I have the right to legal action?

Employers and employees are required to be cooperative with the EDD about the circumstances leading to a termination, so the EDD can make the appropriate decision regarding eligibility. There is nothing unlawful about an employer telling the interviewer about what happened and they cannot be sued for providing such information, even if it proves to be false.
