I recently settled a defimation case with my former employer and they were supposed to pay by sept 30 and havent. My attorney has tried to contact the defendant counsel and they have not responded. Short of taking the case to court(arbitration) and it was settled in medeation by the way. What can I do, how do we get them to pay?

If you have a signed agreement, then you would file a breach of contract lawsuit, and then file for summary judgment. There'd be no need to get into the other issues at that point as they are incorporated into the agreement.
If you don't have a signed agreement, then, unfortunately, you'd have to litigate all of the issues.
