Legal Question in Employment Law in California
i recently was terminated from the travel agency call center company i worked for in may THIS YEAR and there reason behind me getting let go(fired) was that i was in the negative for the last 2 weeks..they didnt give me any warnings or write ups and also suspended, not fired other employees for the same reason and these other employees still work there to date. ....3 weeks prior to me gettiing fired i was involved in an altercation with a fellow employee and his dog in the office that lead to an altercation in the next following weeks with the manager in which she (i feel) threatened me and tried to start problems between me and fellow employees..i came in the office and his dog was un attended and bit me and ripped my pants slighty and i began to yell for the owner as i tried frantically to get away from the biting dog and when the owner came from down the 30 ft hallway he didnt apoligize or show concern , he was just telling me his dog was harmless and had no teeth to even bite and totally disregarded the incident with the utmost iggnorance..i was ok but my pants needed to be replaced because they were now ripped and not up to dress code..when i spoke with the manager right after it happened she assured me she would make it right and let me take the rest of the day off and 2 weeks went by so i brought it up to my friend that initailly got me the job at the company and he went to the manager to try and get it resolved ...about a day or a day and half went by and i got a call from the manager and had a very disturbing conversation for about 10 minutes consisting of her telling me " to watch my back ".. and ultamately the next day i was givin a 20 dollar bill and signed a piece of paper(document) recording the event of payment for my pants from the " dog bite " . then 2 weeks later i got terminated for " being in the negative " . in those 2 weeks after i got bit and the manager telling me that over the phone , the dog was back in the office on multiple occassions even though the day it happened and a week later i heard directly from the manager that i be rest assured the dog would not be allowed back into the office.. the day they fired me i walked into work on time as always and i felt very un easy , even more so then i had for the previous suggested weeks after the altercations.. i kinda knew that they were gonna fire me within 10 min of showing up to work..they called me in the office and told me " they came to a board decision , and they decided that they had to let me go" , and when i asked "why"? they replied " the reason for this decision was because my "numbers" (bookings/reservations) were in the negative and have been so for 2 weeks..".. i was stumped and didnt know what to say except "thank you ".. and also it being a travel agency we got perks such as free voucher coupons for hotel rooms or plane tickets(to be applied for or to travel).. and i had almost $2000.00 worth and i requested they send me reassurance and they sent me an email before i left the office reassuring me that those points or vouchers i had earned while i worked there were still 100% mine.. i have since then tried to access this acount with these voucher points on it that i personally made with my personal information on it the week i started working there , and i am unable to access it and fear they have stolen my online account that i had made through expedia..
