Legal Question in Employment Law in California

reimbursement of sick payfrom an occupational injury

We had an employee hurt on the job late one friday evening. (He locked his keys inside an office, he then climbed up and over into the office, but on his way out, he fell through the ceiling tiles) He did not notify his supervisor until monday (his supervisor did not notify anyone either), but he then called in sick for both monday and tuesday. Since the employee was hurt "on the job", is the employer responsible for reimbursing the employee for his two sick days?
