Legal Question in Employment Law in California
Renig on Promise of Employment
I work for an entertainment company as a production assistant in Hollywood. Two months ago I began discussions about employment in post production with the producers of a new show that is going in to production. They knew my qualifications and my resume for the assistant editor position and told me that as far as they were concerned I had the job and eventually gave me a start date of Oct 31st 2005. I considered this a verbal promise of employment and stopped any searches for new work as an editor and actually turned down two jobs over the last few weeks. Yesterday the producer called me into his office and said I no longer would be doing the position because they aren't sure about my skill level. Do I have a Case???
