Requested 2 week leave of absence, possibly becoming medical for panic attacks and stress. Was granted leave by manager. 7 days later received personal belongings from work UPS. Received a text message from manager that I was let go because of job abandonment because District Manager did not approve leave and manager did not have power to grant it. illegal?

It sounds like you might have a legitimate claim for disability discrimination/retaliation. Whether it's a mistake/disconnect in communication between the members of your management or an intentional set up, it sounds like your employer failed to follow basic medical leave laws.
