Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Are Resident Managers exempt employees?

Does a couple hired as resident managers at a self storage facility qualify

to be salary exempt employees? Are they subject to maintaining time cards?

At anytime does the company incur any overtime liability?

Currently the resident managers (husband/wife) are paid a salary and they keep track of their hours worked (Mon - Sat). They have free room and board at the facility in addition to their salary.

Re: Are Resident Managers exempt employees?

Exemption from overtime compensation is determined by the nature of the duties performed. It makes no difference in California that a person is salaried or has a title of manager.
