Legal Question in Employment Law in California

I want to resign but I signed a contract to repay training expenses if I leave b

I signed a contract that says I would pay back training expenses if I resigned within 12 months. I have 6 weeks before my one year anniversary. My contract has not been updated to reflect the new position I was assigned 6 months ago. If my contract is not accurate, ie: different department, responsibilities and role, can I still be held accountable to pay training fees if I leave 6 weeks early?? Please help!

Unless the conditions of your job are truly unbearable, you should stick it out until your anniversary. You may well be liable for the reimbursement and if you are sued your defense costs will be very high. If you think the current conditions are unbearable, you need to let your employer know that and afford it an opportunity to correct them. If you just quit, you will be responsible for the training expenses.
