Legal Question in Employment Law in California
Want to return to position originally hired for, asked to resign
I was originally hired by a school district as a 20-hour-a-week employee. I was later asked to include teaching a class in my schedule and agreed. It was informal, I'm not even sure if a full-time contract was issued.
After teaching for one year, I found it too stressful and requested to be put back to my original position. I was told that if I could not perform both jobs, that I needed to resign, as the district wanted ONE person to do both jobs.
After submitting my letter of resignation, I found out that the teaching position was to be covered by one person and the district was advertising again for a part-time employee for my original position. (I have been offered a position by another district for the same part-time job and start there next week.)
Is what they did illegal? If so, should I pursue the case?
Sincerest Thanks!

Re: Want to return to position originally
they did not break the law and you got the job you want. Forget it and be happy.
