Returning to work on a reduced schedule

I wish to return to work on a part time basis (32 hours a week). I previously worked full time (40+ hours a week)in a management position. I have been informed that this arrangement cannot be meant with my current employer. Are they required to find another position within the company for me? If so, is it required to be of a comparable position and pay scale?

You have not provided enough information to respond. Why did ou go on leave? Do you have a disability? What is the reason for the reduced shcedule? Are there any alternatives?
