Legal Question in Employment Law in California
Salaried exempt - mandatory 8 hrs. per day?
I am an administrative salaried exempt employee. At first I was told as long as I came to work each day & completed my daily tasks I was free to go, now I am being told I need to be here a full 8 hours each day totaling 40 hrs per week. Can my employer rightfully & legally make it mandatory for me to work a full 8 hours a day even if my work for the day is complete before a full 8 hours?

Short answer: Yes. Your employer can require 8 or more hours of a properly classified exempt employee.
