Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Do Salary Employees Have To Punch In a Time Clock?

I am a salaried employee and its my employers policy that all salary employees clock in and out like an hourly employee. This is a very unusual policy considering most employers dont require salary employees to clock in and out. In addition, this is a very unusual policy for a sales professional. This is a family owned business, so I guess this is their way of keeping tabs of salary workers. My obvious question is can they enact such a policy?

Yes, the employer may maintain a policy requiring salaried employees to punch a time clock. The employee must be paid the regular salary, without deduction for short hours.
