Legal Question in Employment Law in California
salary exempt employees
What is the law regarding salary exempt employees who had deductions taken but had worked all but 3 days of the pay period. Period was 15th of the month till the 30th. Supervisor told me to take 1 and a half days off then docked my check. I was told if an exempt employee works part of the pay period they are entitled to be paid for the entire period. What is the law and where can I find a copy ? Thank you.

Re: salary exempt employees
You are correct. If the Employer told you to take the time off, you are entitled to full pay for the week. Exceptions exist, but are limited. If this is a single incident, you may not want to put your job on the line for a small amount of money. (It might be better to keep your documentation and file a claim later, so long as it is within 3 years) However, if this is a continuing practice, you should consider action. A claim with the California Labor Commissioner would be your best course of action.
