Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Sales Reports

I am a salaried Independant Contractor (1099) for an advertising company. The person to whom I report is now requiring sales reports daily, weekly and monthly (detailed- who i see, when, why, what happened, etc.) There is no contract, just a hand shake. I do not have time or nor do I want to do sales reports. I know he is only asking for them becuase he wants to know what I am doing during the day, but he never mentioned anything about reporting during the hiring process. Do I have to do the sales reports and how do I confront him about it nicely, also, am I required to attend mandatory meetings and sales training, when this was never discussed during the hiring process?

Re: Sales Reports

Well, you certainly dont have to do anything that you dont want to, but this also means that he can terminate your relationship based on the fact that you dont want to do the reports or attend meetings. You might want to sit down with your employer and discuss these items, that is if you want to continue to be employed under these conditions.

Good Luck!
