More facts are needed. Was the computer tied into the employer's network? Was it on-site and used for business purposes?

I would agree that more info is required. Of course an employer may search its own company property. However, if a personal computer was searched that no connection to the company then this search may be viewed as an invasion of privacy. You should either re-post your question with more facts or consult with an attorney about this matter.

Good Luck!
