Severance Packages
I was recently let go without notice from a management position with a nonprofit organization. I was told the decision had nothing to do with my performance (I raised nearly $500K in 2000), but was a management decision relating to the best interests of the agency as a whole.
I was told to leave immediately and was given two weeks severance plus accrued time off. I left in a state of shock since nothing like this has ever happened to me before.
Is there any recourse for increasing the amount of severance?

There is no legal requirement that an employer pay you any severance if there is no severance plan in effect. Your only realistic chance of getting more is if you have a potential claim that could lead to a lawsuit. If you have no reason to believe that your termination was unlawful, you have no bargaining leverage to negotiate a larger severance package.
