Is there any law that mandate what an employer must pay their employees at the time of a mass lay-off?

Re: Severence Pay

Yes, in California an employer must IMMEDIATELY pay an employee all earned wages at the time of the layoff, if they are not provided a date to return to work within their normal pay period and if the employee is not the the industries of 1) Motion Pictures, 2) Oil Drilling or 3) Seasonal employment in curing or canning of fruit, fish or vegetables.

An employer who fails to properly pay is subject to penalties to each employee not properly paid. If you were laid off without pay, you may be owed additional monies. Please contact me to discuss if you desire.
